Concept

Currently, Molecular Life Science research is at a very exciting stage of development, because, for the first time, details of the molecular mechanisms underlying the phenomena of life, in all its facets, are within reach.
Research in the Molecular Life Sciences has a very wide impact on our modern lives in areas such as medicine, drug discovery, biotechnology, plant and animal biology, even on ethics and law.
The MoLife Graduate Program encourages its students to contribute to the development of this fascinating research field. The Faculty at Jacobs University from the Molecular Life Sciences and the neighboring disciplines have combined their expertise and resources to create this exciting graduate program. Students will be exposed to vibrant, multidisciplinary research across a range of topics and areas

Program

The Molecular Life Science (MoLife) Graduate Program offers intensive practical research training in three laboratory rotations in addition to a combination of carefully designed lectures and seminars.
Students choose two Specialization Areas for their practical and theoretical education. This program structure ensures a depth of knowledge in the chosen Specialization Areas and necessary interdisciplinarity that bridges the different fields in the Molecular Life Sciences. The choice of any two Specialization Areas provides the necessary background required for a future PhD and a subsequent research career in theses respective fields. The following five Specialization Areas are currently available which reflect the expertises of the Faculty members and their research groups:

• Cellular and Molecular Biology
• Computational Biology
• Molecular Biophysics
• Molecular Biotechnology
• Molecular Genetics.
